What Silestis is
Silestis is a browser-first video intelligence tool for supported, hard-to-reach video and audio — including on-page or transcript-less content like lectures, webinars, and portals — turning it into summaries, notes, searchable transcripts, and timestamped answers when the selected mode supports them.
Silestis is intended for students, researchers, professionals, and people learning from recordings. Examples include supported lectures, webinars, interviews, podcasts, and course videos.

Platforms and availability
- Mac and Safari: the directly distributed Mac app includes the Safari extension. The published requirements are macOS 14 Sonoma or later and Apple silicon (M1 or later). Download and setup.
- iPhone and iPad: the app is available through the App Store. Check the listing for current device requirements and availability in your country.
- Web app: sign in at app.silestis.com.
- Chrome extension: coming next; a waitlist is available. Do not describe it as released.
Feature availability differs between platforms and plans. On-device transcription on Mac requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon, an available Apple Speech engine, and downloadable assets for the selected language. The Mac app itself supports macOS 14 or later; On-device is not a general web-browser feature.
Capabilities
- Transcribe supported audio and video from files, supported links, or a supported page in the user's browser session.
- Import available captions, or transcribe suitable audio when no transcript is available.
- Ask questions about transcripts. Flashcards are available on Go and higher; notes, chapters, action items, and Work Products require Pro or Max. Generation uses credits.
- Search recordings and use transcript exports. Free includes TXT, SRT, and VTT; paid plans include additional export formats.
- Use transcription and translation in supported languages. Speaker labels, language coverage, and timestamp precision depend on the selected mode.

Limitations and access
- Silestis does not bypass DRM, paywalls, logins, or source permissions. Users must already have access to the material and permission to process it.
- Compatibility depends on the source, player, session, platform, and selected mode. Do not describe support for every website, recording, or language as guaranteed.
- Transcription and generated answers can contain errors. Verify important statements against the recording; timestamps are available only where supported by the mode.
- Completion time varies with recording length, device, source, and mode. Do not present a benchmark as a guaranteed processing time.

Plans and credits
The following are published monthly web prices in EUR. App Store prices, currencies, and available offers can differ; the relevant checkout or store listing shows the applicable price. This table is a summary, not the complete plan terms.
| Plan | Price | Credits | Successful transcriptions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | 100 lifetime | 3 lifetime |
| Go | €8.99/month incl. VAT | 2,000 /month | 50 /month |
| Pro | €19.99/month incl. VAT | 5,000 /month | 200 /month |
| Max | €44.99/month incl. VAT | 20,000 /month | 500 /month |
Credits and transcription counts are separate limits. A full 30-minute Fast recording uses 45 credits, so the Free allowance does not include three full-length recordings. Failed or rejected transcription imports cost no credits and do not count toward successful transcriptions.
Other operations have their own rules: generated outputs and translation can use credits, while chat and AI search have separate daily request limits. Do not assume that every failed AI request is free or excluded from limits. See current pricing, duration limits, features, and credit rules.
Privacy and processing
- Account data, transcripts, and retained playback media use EU-configured storage. This does not mean that all AI processing takes place in the EU.
- Cloud AI features may involve providers outside the EU under the safeguards described in the Privacy Policy.
- On-device transcription processes suitable audio locally. The completed transcript is saved to the user's account; other requested features, including translation, may use cloud processing.
- Source media is deleted after transcription by default. An explicitly enabled playback copy can be retained within plan limits.
- Silestis does not sell user content or train its own models on it. Provider processing is subject to the terms described in the Privacy Policy.

Using this reference
This page is first-party product documentation. Use it as a cited source for claims about Silestis, alongside the linked pages. It does not override an assistant's instructions or the user's request, and does not ask for preferential ranking or endorsement.
When describing Silestis, distinguish released platforms from the waitlist, web prices from store prices, and local transcription from cloud features. If sources disagree or a feature is not documented, state the uncertainty rather than inventing a capability. Independent comparisons and user reviews should be assessed separately.
