Acceptable Use Policy for Silestis
Version: 1.0 Last updated: August 20, 2026 Provider: Silestis Labs UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Munich, Germany
Welcome to Silestis. This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) explains which uses of Silestis are permitted and which are not. It supplements our General Terms and Conditions and is intended to help keep Silestis safe, fair and lawful to use.
This Policy applies to Silestis, our website, our web application, our browser extension, our AI features, our export and sharing features, and to all content that is entered, uploaded, processed, generated, stored, exported or shared through Silestis.
- Our principles
Silestis is designed to help people better understand, search, summarise, translate and reuse audio and video content. Three simple principles apply:
- Use Silestis lawfully and responsibly.
- Respect the rights, privacy, voices and content of other people.
- Review AI output before you use it, publish it or share it with others.
The examples in this Policy are not exhaustive. A use may also be prohibited if it is not expressly mentioned here but violates applicable law, our General Terms and Conditions or the purpose of this Policy.
- Rights, consents and recordings
You may only use Silestis with content that you are lawfully entitled to use. This applies in particular to audio recordings, videos, conversations, meetings, interviews, lectures, phone calls, music, podcasts, films, platform content, voices, images, texts and personal data.
Before using Silestis, you must ensure that you have all required rights, consents, licences or other legal bases. This may be required, for example, if:
- other people speak or are identifiable in a recording;
- a conversation is confidential;
- personal data, special categories of personal data or data of minors are involved;
- content is protected by copyright;
- content originates from a third-party platform;
- a recording is only permitted under local law with the consent of certain people.
You may not use Silestis to process recordings, voices or content secretly, unlawfully or contrary to the legitimate expectations of the people concerned. This applies in particular to privately spoken words, confidential conversations, phone calls, meetings, interviews and comparable situations in which consent or another legal basis may be required under local law.
- Prohibited content and uses
Illegal activities. You may not use Silestis to commit, prepare, promote, conceal or facilitate unlawful activities. This includes in particular fraud, identity misuse, extortion, stalking, illegal surveillance, human trafficking, exploitation, money laundering, circumvention of sanctions or export controls, and other unlawful acts.
Third-party rights. You may not use Silestis to infringe the rights of third parties. This includes in particular copyrights, trademark rights, personality rights, data protection rights, rights to one’s own spoken word, rights to voices, confidentiality rights and contractual rights of third-party platforms.
Child sexual abuse. Silestis may never be used to create, process, store, transcribe, describe, search for, distribute or facilitate child sexual abuse material or comparable exploitative content. We may report such content or suspected cases to the competent authorities and permanently suspend accounts.
Non-consensual intimate content. You may not use Silestis to create, edit, transcribe, share, search for, promote or distribute intimate or sexualised content of a person without their express consent.
Hate, discrimination and harassment. You may not use Silestis to promote hate, discrimination, dehumanisation, degradation, threats or harassment. This applies in particular with regard to characteristics such as origin, skin colour, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, nationality, caste or comparable protected characteristics.
Violence, threats and terrorism. You may not use Silestis to threaten, glorify, organise, instruct or promote violence. This also applies to terrorist, extremist or violence-promoting content.
Self-harm and suicide. You may not use Silestis to promote or romanticise self-harm, suicide or eating disorders, or to provide specific instructions for them. General, supportive or preventive content is permitted as long as it does not instruct or encourage harm.
Fraud, deception and impersonation. You may not use Silestis to deceive people, to impersonate another person or organisation, or to create or distribute phishing, scams, fabricated evidence, social engineering, manipulated statements, fraudulent documents or other misleading content.
Voices, identity and deepfakes. You may not use Silestis to imitate, falsify, clone or misleadingly attribute voices, statements or identities without the required consent, or to present a person as having said something they did not say. AI-generated or AI-edited content must be labelled where the circumstances require it or where there is a statutory labelling obligation.
Misinformation and manipulation. You may not use Silestis to intentionally create or distribute false, misleading or manipulated content that may harm others. This applies in particular to health, science, current events, elections, political processes, emergencies, financial information or content that specifically targets protected groups.
Coordinated manipulation and mass content. You may not use Silestis to create, edit, transcribe or distribute content at scale or in a coordinated way where this serves deception, manipulation or artificial amplification. This includes in particular manipulated reviews, comments, social media posts, political messages, engagement campaigns, spam, fake user activity or content intended to circumvent platform rules on labelling or authenticity.
Professional advice and high-risk decisions. You may not use Silestis as the sole basis for legal, medical, psychological, tax, financial, insurance-related, safety-critical or other professional advice, or offer such advice to third parties without the required qualification. You also may not use Silestis as the sole basis for decisions that affect a person’s material rights, safety, health, employment, education, creditworthiness, insurance, housing, migration or comparably important interests.
Dangerous activities and regulated goods. You may not use Silestis to instruct, facilitate or optimise dangerous or regulated activities. This includes in particular weapons, explosives, drug trafficking, illegal substances, circumvention of security controls, sabotage, misuse of critical infrastructure or other activities with a significant risk to people, property or public safety.
Data protection and privacy. You may not use Silestis to monitor, identify, profile, dox or track people without a legal basis, or to collect, infer or publish sensitive information about them. This applies in particular to health data, biometric data, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, trade union membership, minors and other particularly sensitive data.
Security and technical abuse. You may not use Silestis to develop, test or facilitate malware, exploits, phishing, spam, credential stuffing, unauthorised access, security circumvention, automated scraping, model or system extraction, reverse engineering, circumvention of rate limits, circumvention of safety filters, or attacks on Silestis or third parties.
Resale and impermissible provision. Without our express consent, you may not integrate Silestis into your own products or services, resell it as your own service, provide it to third parties as technical infrastructure, resell accounts or credits, or circumvent plan limits.
- Source platforms and browser extension
When you use URLs, website content, platform content or our browser extension, you remain responsible for ensuring that retrieving, processing and sharing this content is permitted. Silestis does not give you any rights to third-party content that you do not already have.
As a guide:
- You may use freely accessible content only if this is permitted under applicable law and the rules of the respective source platform.
- You may use content behind a login, membership, paywall or other access restriction only if you are entitled to do so and processing with Silestis is permitted.
- You may not process content with technical protection measures, DRM, copy protection, paywalls, download prohibitions or comparable restrictions with Silestis if doing so circumvents such protection measures or restrictions.
- If a feature captures content through your own browser or browser extension, this does not mean that the use is legally permitted. You must still respect rights, consents, platform rules and applicable law.
- Credentials for third-party platforms should not be transmitted to Silestis or to us unless a feature expressly provides otherwise.
We may block certain sources, links, files or processing where there is a risk to third-party rights, platform rules, technical protection measures, security or legal compliance. The fact that we do not technically block a processing operation does not mean that the use is permitted.
- Permitted and encouraged uses
This Policy is not intended to prevent legitimate uses. In particular, you may use Silestis to transcribe, translate, summarise, search, organise, export or make more accessible your own content or content that has been lawfully provided to you.
Permitted uses include, for example:
- transcribing your own notes, voice memos, interviews or meetings, provided you have the required rights and consents;
- summaries and learning materials from lawfully used content;
- analysing and organising your own recordings.
- Using AI output responsibly
Silestis may produce inaccurate, incomplete, fabricated or misleading results. Transcripts may misrecognise words, names, numbers or speakers. Summaries may omit important details. Translations may lose nuance. Chat answers may be incorrect.
You are responsible for reviewing output before you use it, publish it or share it with others. In important, sensitive or professional contexts, you should review output with particular care and, where necessary, seek expert advice.
- Enforcement
If you violate this Policy, our General Terms and Conditions or applicable law, we may take appropriate measures. These include in particular:
- warnings or notices;
- restriction of individual features;
- removal or blocking of content;
- deactivation of share links;
- temporary suspension of your account;
- permanent termination or deletion of your account;
- reporting to authorities or other competent bodies where legally required or appropriate;
- retention of certain information where necessary for security, legal enforcement or statutory obligations.
In doing so, we take into account the context, the severity of the violation, possible risks, repetition, the rights of the people concerned and your explanations, insofar as this is appropriate and legally possible.
Where legally required or appropriate, we will inform you of the main reasons for a measure and give you an opportunity to have it reviewed. In the case of repeated or serious violations, we may take stricter measures. In the case of manifestly unfounded, abusive or massively repeated reports, we may restrict the use of the reporting procedure to the extent permitted by law.
- Reporting violations
If you notice content or uses that violate this Policy or may be unlawful, you can contact us at hello@silestis.com or use a reporting form provided by us, such as a report-content page on our website.
Please state as precisely as possible:
- which content or use you are reporting;
- where we can find the content, such as a share link, URL or resource ID;
- why you consider the content or use to be unlawful or impermissible;
- which country or legal system is concerned;
- how we can reach you;
- that your information is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.
For reports concerning child sexual abuse material or comparable serious criminal offences, special reporting channels or statutory exceptions may apply. If there is an acute danger to life, limb or safety, please also contact the competent emergency services or law enforcement authorities directly.
- Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time, for example because of new features, new risks, legal requirements, security requirements or changed technical processes. We will notify you of material changes in accordance with our General Terms and Conditions. The current version is available on our website.
