How credits work

Instead of charging per file, paid plans give you a monthly pool ofcredits. Each minute of audio you transcribe spends credits, and the amount depends on the model you choose:

• Fast: 1.5 credits per audio minute.
• Long & Flexible: 2 credits per audio minute.
• Speakers: 4 credits per audio minute.
• On-device: 1 credit per audio minute on supported Apple devices using Apple Speech.
• Existing captions: 0.5 credits per source minute.

With On-device, plan credits equal approximately the same number of audio minutes. Long & Flexible uses 2 credits per minute, so the same credit pool covers half as many minutes. On-device transcription requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon, an available Apple Speech engine, and downloadable speech assets for the selected language. The Mac app itself supports macOS 14 or later; cloud transcription is available on those older supported Macs. If you request translation, the resulting transcript text is processed by the selected cloud service.

Chat with a transcript and semantic search do not draw down credits. Generated outputs — including notes, chapters, flashcards, action items, and Work Products — use at least 1 credit per generation. The charge increases by 1 credit for each started 100,000 characters of transcript context. The app checks the charge against your remaining balance before generation.

Translating a saved transcript on Go or higher costs 0.2 credits per source minute, rounded up to a whole credit with a 1-credit minimum. Reopening a saved translation costs nothing. Translation selected for cloud transcription is included in the model rate; caption and on-device imports add the translation charge when requested.

Published usage limits

• Transcription count: only successful transcriptions count. A transcription that fails or is rejected costs no credits and does not use up a transcription; you are only charged when a transcription completes. Free includes 3 lifetime transcriptions; Go includes 50, Pro 200, and Max 500 per monthly quota period.
• Generated outputs: flashcards are included on Go and higher. Notes, chapters, action items, and Work Products require Pro or Max. Generation uses credits; limits apply to recently generated outputs saved in your library.
• Chat and AI search: Go 20, Pro 100, Max 200 requests per rolling 24 hours, shared across available chat and AI search features. Started requests count even if a provider fails; reading saved conversations does not.
• Rolling 24-hour audio ceiling: Free 60 minutes, Go 8 hours, Pro 20 hours, Max 40 hours.
• Simultaneous transcription jobs: Free 1, Go 3, Pro 6, Max 10.
• Short-term request limits protect the service from bursts. Max has higher chat and search request limits, but no separate priority queue.

Which plan is right for you?

• Free — trying it out, short clips, occasional use.
• Go — students and creators who transcribe lectures, videos, and podcasts regularly and study with flashcards.
• Pro — professionals and researchers who need all cloud transcription modes, speaker labels, and search across many recordings.
• Max — power users with very long recordings and high monthly volume.
